For this ride you need approximately 10 minutes. The fare systems is based on cards (“cartele” in Romanian), which can be purchased from any subway station, either from the booth (“casa”) or from vending machines. The price of a card with two trips (each trip provides unlimited travel on subways provided you do not exit the subway system) is 4 lei and that of a card with 10 trips is 15 lei. Get off at the forth stop, Râul Colentina. Walk for 5 minutes to the hotel. Or - from Obor subway station take trolley bus no. 66 heading towards Spitalul Fundeni and get off at the forth stop (Cremenița, in the vicinity of Piața Colentina). The hotel is within 2 minutes walking distance. The surface transit card (RATB) can be purchased from the RATB booths located either across the street from the tram station no. 21 or in the trolley bus station no. 66 from Obor towards Colentina. You need to purchase the card itself and in addition purchase “trips” (“călătorii”), which cover one-way rides on buses, trams and trolleys; transferring from one vehicle to another requires a new trip). Once you reach the street level, you can walk to the Casa Academiei (see photo), along a wide boulevard just in front of the large palace of the Romanian Parliament (“Ceausescu’s palace”). This is a 20-minute walk. Alternatively, you can take bus no. 136 and get off at the second stop (Casa Academiei). Bus no. 136 runs every 20 – 30 minutes! From Hotel Sir Colentina to the Casa Academiei Române (the conference venue)You can either take public transit or the taxi/cab.1. by bus or subwayTake tram no. 21 from the Râul Colentina stop towards Sf. Gheorghe or take trolley bus no. 66 from stop Cremenița, Piața Colentina (across the street from the hotel) towards Vasile Pârvan. For both tram and trolley bus, get off at the forth stop, Bucur Obor. Take the subway from Obor station towards Gara de Nord/Dristor 2. Get off at the 10th station: Izvor. Get off at the Piața Kogălniceanu stop. From here, cross the Izvor bridge and go along a wide boulevard just in front of the large palace of the Romanian Parliament (“Ceausescu’s palace”). Bus no. 136 runs every 20 – 30 minutes! 3. by taxiTaxis can be called from the hotel reception or can be taken directly from the Doamna Ghica stop. One trip from the hotel to the Casa Academiei Române costs about 15-20 lei. We recommend the taxi companies that have the fare visibly displayed (the lowest and most common fare is 1,39 lei/km).
